Wedding Bells
We'll keep this post short and sweet so that I can finish it before nap time ends! These were bridal shower cookies that I made over the summer. Beth and Tim's wedding date is fast approaching, so I thought that it was about time I posted these cookies!
The shower colors were navy and white and they wanted to include a simple wedding bell design in one corner of the cookie.

Halloween Vampire Teeth
Happy Halloween!!!
I was in Michaels last week and couldn't resist picking up a vampire tooth cookie cutter. I knew I had seen these cookies on Sugarbelle's site a while back, so I decided to whip up a batch for our neighborhood Halloween party. I was glad I did because the kids really got a kick out of them! Check out some pictures on my facebook page here and here!
I hope everyone has fun trick or treating tonight! We'll be taking this little monster around the neighborhood.
Not quite sure how he feels about that yet though :)
Happy Halloween!

Fall Cookie Bouquets
I've never made a cookie bouquet before, but when I got a request for 30 of them last month I figured, hey, why not? Go big or go home :)
I wish that I could have gotten a picture of the tables after they were set, but they only had linens on them while I was there. I'm sure they looked beautiful once the event planner was done with them though.
Figuring out the best way to assemble the buckets took some research online. I ended up weighing down the buckets by filling the bottom with stones. Then I cut squares of floral foam to fit in the buckets, leaving about 1" of space in the top (floral foam was easier to push the sticks into compared with styrofoam). I filled the remaining space in the bucket with ivory crinkle paper, then pushed the sticks through.
Since they would be sitting on round tables, I arranged the bouquets so that they could be viewed from all sides. I never thought that the floral design class that I took a few years ago would come in handy for cookie decorating :)
Overall, I thought my first cookie bouquets were a success. I'm looking forward to doing these again!
The bouquets were used as centerpieces for a company picnic that was held at the home of James Monroe in Charlottesville. Luckily, it was a local event so I could assemble the buckets on site before the party started.

Henna-Inspired Wedding Cookies
I have to admit, I was really excited to work on this order and I really love the final result. These cookies were requested for a bridal shower in the DC area. The bride's family is from Bangladesh and several traditions such as henna tattoos were planned for the wedding.
The cookie platter incorporated the color scheme of the shower, hot pink and gold (LOVE), and various henna-inspired designs. I added a few pops of white in the platter as well to break up all that pink.
All of the gold piping was done in yellow icing and then hand-painted with gold luster dust. It's labor intensive but worth the extra effort!
The shower favors were a mix of hearts and wedding cakes. They included the same henna designs and the couple's initials. My client was kind enough to send some images of the cookies displayed at the shower which you can see on my Facebook page here. I love seeing my cookies out "in the wild"! Don't they look beautiful arranged with the other favors?
Before starting these cookies, I scoured the internet looking at various henna designs trying to choose the styles I wanted to use for the cookies. What's your favorite design? I think I really like the leaf style in the upper right cookie. I'm sure there's all sorts of meanings associated that I'm completely ignorant to. Hopefully they were appropriate for a bridal shower!

Here's a close up of two more of the platter cookies. These are two of the more traditional wedding designs that I thought would work well as favors for any wedding or shower.
I hope that you all enjoyed these cookies as much as I did making them. Best wishes Amira and Brian!
*Update 10/4/13* Now you can buy these henna-inspired favors in our Etsy shop!

Birthday Superheroes!
When we asked my little cousin, Ben, who his favorite superhero was, his answer was "I like all superheroes." So that's exactly what he got for his 5th birthday this year!
Spiderman, Batman, and Superman were all packaged into a small gift box along with a couple of Marvel comics "POW"-style personalized cookies.
What little boy wouldn't want these cookies for his birthday!?
Happy birthday Ben!!!

Minnie and Mickey Favors
Mickey and Minnie cookies have been very popular around here lately! I offer two different options for cookie favors.
These are 4" cookies that have space for personalization:
Minnie Mouse cutters are kind of rare and I've received a lot of questions about where I found this one. After lots of searching, I found it in this store on eBay and I LOVE it.
I also make smaller 2" Mickey and Minnie cookies:
I don't have a small Minnie cutter, so I hand pieced a little bow on top of my small Mickey cutter for these cookies. If anyone has a small Minnie cutter I would love to know where you found it!

The King
I had a great time rocking out to "The King" while I created this gift package! I decided on 2 silhouettes of Elvis, a recreation of his guitar and a few gold stars to complete this set.
All of the cookies were arranged in a 7x10" gift box and sent out to PA for Frances' birthday!

Penn State "THON" Cookies
I've known Sandra pretty much since she was born, so it's crazy to think that she just graduated from Penn State. Sandra was super involved at PSU, particularly with their annual dance marathon, or "Thon", that raises money for pediatric cancer.
For her graduation celebration, I created cookies based on the "THON" themes for the past 4 years. I also included a few "FTK" cookies, which stands for "For The Kids". And of course, no Penn State graduation platter is complete without a few Nittany lions and paw prints!
Congratulations Sandra! I'm so proud of you and can't believe you're already done college!!

Welcome Ba-bee!
It's a Ba-bee!
My new neighbor, Sarah, and I made these for two of her friends who recently had baby girls. We had lots of fun decorating them together. Sarah's a natural and I still don't fully believe that it was the first time she had decorated cookies :)
Big thanks to Jennifer from Sugary Sweet Cookies for letting me use her super cute design!

Nautical Cookie Favors and Gifts
We've had lots of nautical cookies around here this summer! These sailboat cookies were requested as favors for a birthday party in Annapolis, MD. The birthday girl's name was, of course, Jeannie!
Then, I took advantage of all that red, white and navy icing that I had leftover to create some new gift packages for the website. Here's the large gift set:
And here's the small gift set:
The message cookies can be customized for any occasion :)

Magician Cookies
Have you seen The Incredible Burt Wonderstone yet? It's (imo) a pretty hilarious movie about washed-up magicians played by Steve Carell and Steve Buschemi. I was watching it on DVD a few weeks ago and the very next day I received a last minute order for magic-themed cookies. It was fate!
I had so much fun designing this platter of magician cookies. Devin's mom requested "6 of hearts" playing cards in honor of Devin's 6th birthday. I also included some rabbits in hats, magic wands, a few magic words, and lots of disco dust!

Fore!
There's been lots of golf cookies around here recently! This was a custom gift package for a 60th birthday.
And this was another custom Thank You package. Luckily they were ordered in the same week so I could reuse all of my colors. Love when that happens!

Preakness Cookies
I made these cookies for a Preakness party this year. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take pictures before they were packaged, but hopefully you get the idea! There were several complicated designs in this set, including Maryland state flags, Preakness logos, and Gentleman Jack whiskey bottles. Those Maryland flags were killers!
I made several of the jockey's silks who were going to be racing in the Preakness. The winner was Oxbow, whose black and yellow silk is in the back!

Starfish Bridal Shower Favors
100 of these starfish cookies were requested for a yellow and gray bridal shower. That was a lot of dots!!
Big thanks to Glory from Glorious Treats for letting me use her starfish design!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday
This is a collection of favors that were made for a sweet girl's 2nd birthday party.
She loves Minnie Mouse, so all the girls at the party got to take home a personalized Minnie cookie.
The boys' party favors were personalized Goofy hat cookies.
I also made this platter of minis for the kids to snack on during the party. Can you name all of the characters?
Minnie and Daisy get bows, Donald and Goofy have hats, Pluto has a paw print, and of course, Mickey's iconic ears!
