Logo Cookies

Logo cookies are great for company holiday parties and they make the perfect thank you gifts for coworkers, clients, and teachers.  I guess that's why I've been making lots of them recently!

150 of these blue dog cookies were finished recently for a Blue Dog PAC holiday party:

These Insight Global cookies were ordered as client gifts:

They were boxed up in gift boxes along with our chocolate chip cookies and were delivered as client gifts for the holidays.  If you're interested in ordering similar gift boxes with your company logo, please contact us!  We hope to have a new "corporate gifts" page available soon on the website.

Penguins and Reindeer and Bears, Oh my!

A cute new package is available on the website!

I love these little guys.  They were done using my KopyKake projector using some cute wrapping papers as inspiration.

I think the penguins look like they're having an awesome dance party:

And the reindeer are all decked out too:

If you'd like to order this package, check out the website: http://thecookiecutter.us/christmas.htm.

These cookies also made a great Get Well Soon care package for my cousin Julia.  Hope you feel better soon Jul!

Let it snow!

Thanksgiving is over and it's officially time for Christmas!  I've held off on Christmas cookies until now because I hate it when the stores start all of their Christmas hype in October.  There's nothing worse than going to Michael's 2 days before Halloween (to pick up things for a Halloween party) and finding everything replaced by Christmas stuff (true story, can you tell I'm bitter)!

So anyway, enough ranting, here's the first sets of wintery (is that a word?) cookies.  All snow-themed!  There's a variety of snowflakes, hats, mittens, snowmen, and what my husband has officially deemed "snow heads".  More to come on the snow heads in a later post, but can you guess what cookie cutter was used for them in the mean time?  All packages are up on the website here, check them out!

Recent projects

Here's a quick catch up on some of the projects I've had recently:

This was a really cute order that was sent to a lawyer who just made partner at his firm.  Each family member got their own fall-themed cookie and they were sent along with a dozen chocolate sandwich cookies.

This order was for a dozen baptism cookies.  This set is also now available on the website :)

This was a last-minute baby shower order for 26 onesies, rattles, and baby footprints.  I love the name - Caylin!

And finally, a get well soon package with hearts, band-aids, and X's and O's.  Keep an eye out for a new get well soon page on the website!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!  It will be time for some wintery-themed cookies when we get back from the holidays!

Star Wars

My father-in-law's birthday was a few weeks ago and I just couldn't let the opportunity pass without making him some Star Wars cookies.  It's only fair since he's the one who gave me the cutters!

Honestly, I've seen all of the Star Wars movies, but I'm really not much of an expert.  My husband had to write down what each one was so I could look up pictures on the internet (at first I thought Boba Fett's helmet was a hut ).  OK I'm not completely lame, I knew the obvious ones like Yoda and Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper, but I'm not much of a space ship kind of girl.  I must say though, I was very proud of myself this Halloween when Boba Fett showed up at my door and I knew who he was!

Social Networking Icons

A few weeks ago I had my biggest order to date - 500 Facebook, Linked in, and Twitter logo cookies.  Whew!  I think my hand has finally recuperated.

This is only a tiny fraction of them:

To make these cookies, I created a stencil for each logo (you can find stencil making kits at Michael's or any craft store).  The stencil was used to trace the logo onto the cookie with food coloring markers.  Then, I piped over the traced image and filled it in with thinned white icing.

For anyone who is thinking about scaling up their production, I've included some details below about length of time and number of batches that I needed.

Science cookies

I recently had a really fun request for some science-themed cookies.  Those of you who know me know that my "real" job is a scientist, so I was excited to make these!

The cookies were a gift for a Notre Dame lab to celebrate a grant that they were recently awarded.  Read more for descriptions of what these cookies actually are!

Halloween Cookies

Where does the time go?!  Halloween is already less than a week away and I haven't even posted any Halloween cookies yet!  I love Halloween, but unfortunately I haven't had much time this year to come up with lots of fun creative ideas.  I'm already looking forward to trying some new projects next year, but for now, here are some cookies that are available on the website.

The good news is that things have been very busy around here, so I have a huge backlog of fun projects to share with you in the coming weeks!

The best pumpkin cupcakes

Ok, time to get over the end of summer blues and embrace fall!  One of the best parts of fall is all of the pumpkin and apple dessert; and these pumpkin cupcakes are awesome.

I saw this recipe on Glorious Treats and knew I had to try them.  As promised, they were delicious!  The cake was really moist with the perfect amount of spice.  And of course, cream cheese icing makes everything better :)

The recipe can be found here.  The only change that I made was to decrease the milk in the icing to 1 tsp.  Any more would have made the icing too soft to decorate with.  I also omitted the pecans since I didn't have any on hand, but I think they would make these even more delicious.

I highly recommend you give these a try!

Surfer Girl Cookies

Last night I had a very depressing realization that it was only 7:30 pm and it was completely dark outside. Between the shorter days and the fact that it's been 45 degrees and raining here in MD is really making me miss summer.  At least I can still pretend with these fun surfer cookies...

These were made for a girl's birthday party with a surfing theme.  I thought they came out really cute and they're the perfect cure for the end of summer blues!

The color scheme for this party was super fun and it inspired me to create a couple of new summer packages on the website.  These are now available for purchase, along with the surfboards!

Mod Monkey

Monkeys are awesome.  You just can't help but smile when you look at them!  I mean really, look at that face!

These cookies were designed for a 1st birthday party with a monkey theme.  Mod monkey is such an adorable design, and I was happy to have the opportunity to use my KopyKake again!

Something about all these little monkey faces lined up makes me want to laugh :)

Autumn cookies

Fall is officially here! (well OK, I'm a few days late).  Here's a selection of the cookies that are now available on the website.  Hopefully more to come soon!

Baby Animals

Meet my new favorite toy - the KopyKake projector!  I am so excited to add this to my cookie decorating tools.  The KopyKate allows you to project an image directly onto your cookie so that you can trace the outline.  Woohoo!

For my first project, I tried out the projector on this cute baby shower invitation from Tiny Prints:

I did 4 different cookies, one for each animal, and this is the final result!

Overall, I thought the projector was fairly easy to use.  It’s still a challenge to decide exactly how to translate the image into icing, but I was really happy with the final result.

I’m also happy to report that the mom-to-be loved the cookies!

Here's a close up of each cookie, just because I loved these little guys :)

Royal Icing Transfers

When you’re doing a lot of cookies with the same design, I find the easiest way to make sure that they all look uniform is to use royal icing transfers (assuming you don’t have a KopyKake projector - more on that to come soon!).

These cookies were made for a first birthday party with a puppy dog theme.  The "1"s on the paw print were made using transfers.  Continue reading for more on royal icing transfers.

Baptism Cookies

Remember the super cute twins from this post?  Well, they were baptized recently and these are the cookies that I made for their party.  They were a simple, traditional design that turned out to be a big hit at the party.

The flowers were made with stiff royal icing and a #14 tip using a basic Wilton technique.  For more information on how to make these rosettes, click here.

It’s been a while since my last post, so I promise to have lots of fun new things to share with you in the coming weeks!

Making Your Cookie Cutters Work for You

The doctor theme continues!  These medical / golf-themed cookies were made as a gift for a doctor's retirement.

I don't actually have many doctor or golf cookie cutters, so I had to get a little bit creative for this package.  It seems like there's a cookie cutter for everything these days, but it's also important to remember that lots of cutters can be improvised to work for other things.  That way, when you get a last minute order you don't need to worry about rush ordering cookie cutters!  Here's what I used to make these doctor cookies:

I was lucky that I had a fire truck cutter, so it was pretty obvious how to turn this into an ambulance - just cut off the ladder!  The doctor coat was also easily modified from a onesie cutter.  And the bandaid was actually a flower that I cut the sides off of.

I made some similar modifications to create these golf cookies:

I'm sure you can tell how the golf shirts were made - that onesie cutter comes in handy!  The golf bag was a baseball hat turned on it's side and the flip flop cutter made a perfect golf green.  The clubs were made by slightly modifying a candy cane cookie cutter.

So next time you want to try something new, put away your credit card and go digging through your cookie cutter collection!  You might be surprised what you find there (or at least I usually am)!

New Doctor Cookies

I made these cookies recently for a new doctor who just started his residency in the ER.  He's also an avid fisherman, so the request was for a combined package of medical and fishing-themed cookies.  I pretty much had free reign to design any cookies that I wanted, so they were a lot of fun to make!

Best of luck in your residency Sammy!
